Grew up in Vermont, where he was also a competitive all-state ski racer before focusing on golf. Attended Hopkinton High School in Massachusetts, then played four seasons (2004–08) at St.
John’s University, winning 9 collegiate titles (2nd-most in program history) with a 72.12 career scoring average, and earning three-time Big East Player of the Year and All-American honors as a senior.
