FAMILY
Wife: Erica Stoll, married in April 2017 at a castle in Ireland. The couple met in 2012 at the Ryder Cup, where Erica worked for the PGA of America.
They began dating in 2015 and got engaged that December in Paris. In May 2024, McIlroy filed for divorce; the filing was withdrawn about a month later after reconciliation.
They’ve been together since, and Erica was by his side for the historic 2025 Masters win.

Swing Coach: Michael Bannon has coached McIlroy since he was 8 years old, based out of Holywood/Bangor Golf Club in Northern Ireland. The one true constant across McIlroy’s entire career; doesn’t travel full-time but joins at select events.

BACKGROUND
Born in Holywood, Northern Ireland. Introduced to golf by his father, Gerry, at age 2. Became World Amateur #1 in 2006, winning the Irish Amateur Close Championship twice and the European Amateur.
Turned professional on September 18, 2007. His first pro win came at the 2009 Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour. Made his PGA Tour debut in 2010, winning the Quail Hollow Championship that same year in just his 9th start.
Became World #1 for the first time in March 2012 at age 22. Went through a public and painful decade-long major drought after his 2014 PGA Championship win, including a broken engagement to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki in 2014, before finally winning the 2025 Masters in a playoff over Justin Rose, completing the career Grand Slam at age 35.
Briefly filed for divorce from wife Erica Stoll in 2024 before reconciling. Relocated from Florida to a newly built home in Wentworth, England, in mid-2025. Defended his Masters title in 2026, becoming the first repeat champion in years.
