FAMILY
Wife: Maya Schauffele (formerly Lowe), married in July 2021. Maya previously worked at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest and volunteered with Project Concern International in San Diego.
Child: Welcomed their first child in 2025. Schauffele took time away from the tour around the birth before returning to win the Bay-Cal Classic in October 2025.
Parents: Father Stefan Schauffele, German-born, was training to be a decathlete for Germany’s Olympic team until a drunk-driving accident at age 20 left him blind in one eye and ended his athletic career.
